Space Saver Polytunnel (4'6" - 6' Straight Sided)
Featuring vertical sides to maximize space inside and out, the unique design of these high sided polytunnels has made them a firm favorite, particularly for commercial growers. Easy to erect, offering excellent value and full growing space insdie the tunnel.
The price shown for the polytunnel kit now includes everything required for a functional polytunnel as follows:
- Metal framework (corner bracing stays always included)* - Hot spot tapes - Polythene** - Door frame packs (one for each end of the tunnel) - Hinge door packs (one for each end of the tunnel) which may be single or double doors, depending on tunnel width.
* The frame design of the space saver (for maximum strength) requires a timber top rail (top of verticals - see image) or as
an alternative, a metal bracing bar kit. The clamps for the timber top rail are INCLUDED in the kit. You have the option of:
- Taking the clamps and sourcing your own timber locally, or
- Specifying that Citadel supplies the clamps, timbers and fixings required to make the timber top rail, or
- Choosing the bracing bar kit option, removing the need for the timber top rail.
* The vertical side tubes (straight sides) are normally concreted into the ground like fence posts. If you wish you can:
- Specify that we supply ground tubes that are knocked into the ground into which the verticals are secured. (Polythene
trenched)
- Specify "base plates" in cases where you might be citing your tunnel frame on a concrete hard standing. In this case, a
timber base rail for polythene battening is necessary which we can supply as an option or, as with the timber top rail option,
you can choose to source your timbers locally.
** In the case of the polythene, you have a package price choice between the durable and functional "standard" polythene
or you can upgrade to the Thermal anti-fog polythene if you wish.
Options are available to allow you to enhance your polytunnel as follows:
- Crop bars on stage frames (not ends) - Ground cover (weed abatement) pack - Overhead irrigation (now available with or without a tap timer, the tap timer allowing you to control irrigation control at set times in your absence) - Timber base rail pack should you choose not to trench bury your polythene.
You can still choose to source and make your own doors or take one door for one end. The price reduction available to you if you decide on either option is shown under the price list table. Sliding doors can also be specified for your tunnel.
Tunnel frames manufactured from galvanised steel tube with a 1.5mm minimum wall thickness. Polythene supplied with the kits is advanced growers polythene of the highest quality with a 5-year UV guarantee. Timber supplied for door frames, door packs and rails is treated against rotting. Hardware is largely manufactured in house and is designed to make the frame extremely robust but simple to construct.
